Polyurethane adhesives can be one and two-part systems. Viscosities can be self-leveling liquid to paste form. Polyurethane (PUR) cures to form thermoset polymers with good solvent and chemical resistance.These adhesives are extremely versatile and they can be extremely soft to tough or rigid form even as hard plastics. PUR offers a good blend of cohesive strength and flexibility that makes them very tough, durable adhesives.
Polyurethane bonds well to most untreated or unconditioned surfaces, but may need solvent based primers for optimum bond strength. Good at low temperature but typically degrade often on long term exposure over 150°C / 302°F. One part polyurethane adhesives can react with moisture to polymerize. Two part polyurethane, which generally cure through an isocyanate and a polyol.
